What is IN Calling and the promotion it has to offer?
IN-Network is now called IN Calling. Same Great service, price and coverage, now with a new name.
Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce its latest promotional offer - Unlimited IN Calling and Unlimited Night and Weekend calling on Nationwide plans of $39.99 or higher.
IN Calling allows you to call any of our over 51 million plus customers nationwide (America's Choice) or anyone in your immediate Home Rate Area (Local DigitalChoice) whenever you want, and talk as long as you want without having to worry about using your minutes.
Following are just some of the many advantages of IN Calling:
IN Calling vs. Earlier Weeknights: IN Calling is free unlimited anytime calling and is not constrained by time of day. Some competitors charge for these hours.
IN Calling vs. Three-Day Weekends: IN Calling is good any time of the day and any day of the week with no time constraints. Weeknight calling is not included with plans that have three-day weekends. Some three-day weekend plans charge extra for a mobile-to-mobile calling option.
IN Calling vs. $9.99 Add-a-Line: Why limit your family to just the people on your account? IN Calling gives you a family of over 51 million plus that you can call free of charge. Additionally, since one of four wireless customers is a Verizon Wireless customer, chances are many of the people you call are already with us.
The best way to determine service availability for IN Calling is to pay attention to your handset's roaming indicator. With either plan, if your roam indicator is on or flashing, IN Calling does not apply.

- Press the SEND/YES key and wait for your party to answer.
To end a call:
To end your call, just press END. (Some portable flip phones automatically end the call when you close the flip onto the dial pad; please refer to your owner’s manual for instructions.)
To answer an incoming call:
To receive calls, make sure the phone is powered on. Simply press the SEND/YES key. With some portable flip phones you need only open the flip to answer the call.

What is the "1x" display that shows on my phone screen?
The "1x" indicator signifies that you are accessing our National Enhanced Services Area, which supports such advanced digital features as Push to Talk, Mobile Web by VZW with MSN, Picture Messaging, and NationalAccess wireless Internet. You are not charged extra for accessing the National Enhanced Services Area; however, the features described above must be purchased and special equipment may be required.

How do I remove Verizon Wireless from the display on my phone?
Verizon Wireless has chosen not to allow the elimination of "Verizon Wireless" from your handset's banner to ensure accurate billing in all service areas. Alteration of the banner would create an inaccurate indication of whether or not the handset is accessing the Verizon Wireless or extended home rate network, or if it is roaming off the extended network. Every time you complete an over-the-air (OTA) software update to keep your programming current, the banner will automatically return to the network required settings.
Please see the following descriptions of the valid banner displays and what they indicate:
When your wireless phone's roaming indicator is off and/or the banner display reads "Verizon Wireless", home airtime rates apply. Digital features and services, including IN Calling, are available when this display is present.
When the roaming indicator is flashing and/or the banner display reads "Extended Network", home airtime rates still apply. IN Calling, and some other features and services may not be available.
When the roaming indicator is solid and/or the banner display reads "Roaming", roaming rates apply. IN Calling, and other features and services will not be available.

Does Verizon Wireless offer extension phones?
We have thoroughly weighed the costs against the benefits of offering this feature. We have made the decision not to offer the capability to use two wireless phones with one wireless phone number. The current wireless system we use identifies the wireless phone's Mobile Equipment Identifier (MEID) and matches the MEID with the wireless phone number. This process is integral to our system as it helps protect against wireless phone misuse and fraud.

What is local number portability? And what steps do I take to port my number to Verizon Wireless?
Local Number Portability is a government mandate that requires wireless and wireline service providers to allow customers with eligible phone numbers to retain their phone numbers when changing service providers.
All phone numbers are assigned to a local geographic area. To port your number:
- it must remain associated with the same local geographic area where it is currently assigned (Do not cancel your existing phone line with your service provider!)
- the local geographic area with which your number is associated must be an area where Verizon Wireless currently provides service
- purchase a Verizon Wireless phone or a phone that is available to use with Verizon Wireless (refer to question Can I use my existing phone to activate it for Verizon Wireless?)
* When porting your number, you will be asked to provide the following information:**
- Confirmation that you are the authorized contact on the account with your old service provider.
- The name of your old service provider.
- The account number of your old service as it appears on your bill.
Note: If you are porting in person, please bring your most recent bill with you.
- Your name and address as they appear on your bill.
- The current, active phone number that you wish to keep when you port.
- A telephone number where you can be reached during the porting process.
- Your Social Security number or, if a business, a tax identification number or other information that will be used to accurately identify you to your old service provider.
- If you are porting a number associated with a wireless prepay account, you may be asked to provide additional information.
What happens to calls while the port is being processed?
During the porting process, you should be able to make calls right away from your new Verizon Wireless phone, including calls to 911, but you will not be able to receive calls, including return calls from 911 personnel, on your Verizon Wireless phone until the port is complete.
In addition, during the porting process, your ability to make and receive calls, including calls to and from 911, using your old phone may vary depending on your old service provider. As a result, you may want to consider maintaining access to both your old phone and your new wireless phone until the port is complete. Upon completion of the port, you will no longer have service under that number with your old service provider, and you'll be able to make and receive calls using your Verizon Wireless phone.
If you are porting with your existing wireless phone, you should be able to make calls, including calls to 911, during the porting process, but you will not be able to receive any calls, including return calls from 911 personnel, on your wireless phone until the port is complete. The porting process should take no more than 3 hours, but it can take longer. Upon completion of the port, you'll be able to make and receive calls using your phone.
